Dame Quentin farewelled

The Governor-General, the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce, AD, CVO, was farewelled from Defence Establishment Fairbairn, Canberra, with a full ceremonial departure, before flying to Brisbane today.

The outgoing Governor-General inspected a royal guard formed by Australian Defence Force personnel from Australia's Federation Guard. Earlier the Governor-General laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier at the Australian War Memorial.

The Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott, MP, the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley, AC, DSC, and government ministers attended the farewell to say thank you and goodbye.
