ACM is the only organisation, monarchist or republican, to have consistently held a national conference in each of the thirteen years since the referendum. In addition we held at least three before the referendum. Just as an aside, when we announced the conference in some of the early years, the republican movement would then rush to announce theirs. The amusing difference was that in some years, we held ours and the republicans did not. We have also made the point not to concentrate these in Sydney but to hold them around the country. Australia is a federal Commonwealth, and it is important that national organisations reflect this.
This is on the invitation of an outstanding member from our Wagga Wagga Branch, Rhonda Schipp. As usual we are trying to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum by avoiding five star inner city hotels and similar establishments. |
