Pianist Stefan Cassomenos was introduced and played magnificently some Chopin, Brahms and Rachmaninoff. The Loyal toast was proposed by Deputy President Christine Chamberlain.

President Jason Ronald introduced Major-General Michael Jeffery and referred to his forty years service in the Army followed by his Vice- Regal service in Western Australia and to the Commonwealth of Australia, he also thanked the former Governor-General for his patronage of the League throughout Australia.

General Jeffery spoke about the numerous times he had met the Queen beginning with his receiving his Military Cross from her at Buckingham Palace and the times he had enjoyed her company as Governor of Western Australia and subsequently as Governor-General. General Jeffery also spoke about the importance of the Australian Constitution and how vital it was for students to learn about it whilst at school.

The Hon. Dr Kay Patterson ROSL Vice-President and former Commonwealth Government Minister expressed appreciation to General Jeffery for his address and spoke of the Executive Council meetings she had attended whilst General Jeffery was Governor-General. She supported his emphasis on the Constitution and encouraged all present to be well informed about our system of government. After another brilliant musical interlude from Stefan Cassomenos a special presentation was made to Secretary Coral Strahan for her twenty-one years of service to the Royal Over-Seas League in Victoria.

The Hotel Windsor served a delicious three course meal complimented by Rothbury Estate and McWilliams wines. The Dinner received coverage on page 3 of the Age on 3 February.
