Orthodoxy & Monarchy

M
onarchy is closely related with all countries where the Orthodox Church is dominant.

There are also close links with our Australian Monarchy.
Orthodox priest, Fr. Andrew Phillips has said, the Monarchy is, in fact, one of the few remaining vestiges of Orthodox Christianity in the West. Christian monarchy was inherited from the first Christian Emperors. It is not by chance, Fr. Phillips says, that the Golden Jubilee celebration of Her Majesty's accession coincides with the Feast of Sts. Constantine and Helen. Constantine himself was born in Eboracum or what is now York in England.
“The Queen is herself the blood descendant of Orthodox saints such as St Edward the Martyr.
“No less than three Orthodox saints are among the close relatives of Queen Elizabeth the Second. Two of these are granddaughters of the Regina-Imperatrix Victoria - St Alexandra the Tsaritsa and her sister, St Elizabeth the New Martyr. Tsar St Nicholas is the third.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, is an Orthodox Christian as well  (he returned to Orthodoxy in the 1990's). On widowhood, his mother became an Orthodox nun and had her chapel in Buckingham Palace until her death in 1969 when she was buried beside St Elizabeth Fedorovna in Jerusalem.

In May 2011, Greece recalled the 1960 Rome Olympics when King Constantine II, then Crown Prince of Greece, won a Gold Medal for the Greek nation. The video clip below shows The King at the victory in 1960, and then recalling the occasion at a regatta organised by The Yacht Club of Greece in May at Falirus Bay.

s Crown Prince of Greece, King of the Hellenes served in all the three Greek armed services, attending all  the appropriate  military academies.

He also attended the NATO Air Force Special Weapons School in Germany, as well as the Athens University where he undertook courses at the law school.

As a young man, Crown Prince Constantine was a keen sportsman.

In 1960, at the age of 20, he competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, winning a gold medal in sailing (Dragon Class). He was also a strong swimmer and has a black belt in karate, with interests in squash, track events and riding.

...50th Anniversary Regatta...

The Yacht Club of Greece organized a sailing weekend in celebration of the 50th anniversary of winning the first gold medal in Sailing (Dragon Class), at the Rome Olympic Games and to honour His Majesty King Constantine and his crew, Georgios Zaimis and Odysseas Eskitzoglou for their achievement.

On May 21st, King Constantine participated in a unique regatta of classic boats, which took place at Falirus Bay. Many people had the opportunity to see at sea, dozens of boats from the Club's facilities, ranging from 30 to 100 years old.

On May 22nd, King Constantine and his crew participated in a Dragon class Regatta in order to revive the Rome triumph.

On the same night the Yacht Club honoured their contribution in sailing by presenting them with commemorative awards.

Prince Harry - Tsar of all the Russias? Print E-mail

Some two billion people across the world may have been watching the Royal Wedding on Friday between Prince William and Kate Middleton, noted the London Daily Mail on 4 May 2011.

The report continued:
“And it seems some Russians were watching their televisions, green with envy - because now a leading former diplomat believes that Prince Harry - the third in line to by British monarch - should be offered the vacant throne.“Alexander Baunov - a diplomat-turned-journalist - thinks that William's 26-year-old brother should be crowned the first king of Russian since Tsar Nicholas II reigned in 1917 on the eve of the Bolshevik Revolution.”

As we have noted on several occasions on this site, Russia before the revolution was gradually becoming freer and progressing economically. The Boshevik coup was a disaster.

...restoration..

“'Let him receive parades, make visits, give dinners and offer New Year congratulations,' demanded Mr Baunov. “It would, in his eyes, 'delight [Russians] like never before' to have the monarchy restored, following a groundswell of Russian enthusiasm over the Royal Marriage in London, when Harry played a starring role as best man.

..head of state...

The prince could perform a symbolic role as head of state - allowing the increasingly fractious Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, currently premier and president respectively, to concentrate on politics and running the country, said Mr Baunov.

“He said: 'We have no Royal Weddings, and I don't see anything good about this.

“'All our court life revolves around overweight MPs, untalented singers and graduates from TV reality shows.

“'Looking at the wedding and its preparations in England, I think that it would be good to restore the monarchy here.'

Spontaneous demonstration in Athens: Long Live The King Print E-mail
Orthodoxy and Monarchy
Written by Our Man in Athens
Monday, 27 September 2010

The Greek people apparently want their King to return, if the spontaneous reaction of a crowd in Athens recently recently is any guide. They clearly do not want the politicans' republic foisted on them.

His Majesty King Constantine, and Queen Anee Maree were walking in the city and came upon a demonstration by protesting truck drivers.

Surprised, to see The King of the Hellenes and The Queen, the truck drivers rushed over, calling out:

We want you, we want you!

People are listening and realising, now is our time!

There were cheers and cries of Long Live the King!

In this video people can be heard saying in Greek:

So when are you coming back to save us Mr. King?

We want you, we want you.

Bread, olives and Con as King.

We have the Junta here, come back.

You should have put them all on ships when you had the chance, King.

Congratulations on your kids. Come back and get rid of the ******rs.

It’s all the thieves fault, come back.

One of the truck drivers with a mobile says: My mother is on the phone. Can you talk to her please?
