On 6 February 2012 Queen Elizabeth II will have reigned for 60 years.  Her Majesty, who has already reigned over us for more than one half of the life of the Commonwealth of Australia attracts, and rightly attracts, the admiration of the people of this nation.

We have been blessed with a Sovereign who has never put a foot wrong, who was never embarrassed us, who has always served us and for whom we do not pay and never will pay.

In brief, her service has been impeccable.  The Queen is now revered as she was when she first came to Australia in 1954.

We therefore call upon the several governments of Australia to follow other realms It is appropriate that Australia follows Canada and the United Kingdom in celebrating this important anniversary.

The following video shows Her Majesty unveiling a significant part of the Canadian celebrations earlier this year.

....Diamond Jubilee Medal of Canada ...

Above all, let us recognize our fellow Australians with the Diamond Jubilee Medal:

For their many services and accomplishments in the defence of the nation, in charities, in the science, in the arts and so many other fields, as Canada will.

ACM has proposed to the Prime Minister, the Premiers, the Chief Ministers and the Leaders of Her Majesty's Oppositions  that Australia join Canada, the United Kingdom and the other realms in celebrating Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. Please support us in this endeavour.

According to Laura Roberts in the London Daily Telegraph, The Queen  will travel in a special Royal Barge leading a flotilla of at least 1,000 boats down the River Thames, according to plans announced yesterday.

Between 30,000 to 40,000 people will be on the river during the event which will take place on 3 June  2012 to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

...more than 1 million...

More than one million people are expected to line the banks of the Thames for a “once in a lifetime party”.

The Diamond Jubilee River Pageant will be one of the highlights of a special four-day bank holiday weekend created to mark the Jubilee.

Lord Salisbury, Chairman of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation, said: “The Queen, I’m told, supports our goals with enthusiasm.”

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel in a vessel adapted from an existing Thames Sailing Barge.

At high water in the afternoon of Sunday 3 June 2012, up to a thousand boats muster on the River Thames in preparation for Her Majesty The Queen to lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river. Rowed boats and working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks, their crews and passengers turned out in their finest rigs.

The armed forces, fire, police, rescue and other services are all afloat and there are an exuberance of historic boats, wooden launches, steam vessels and other boats of note.

According to the official river pageant website, the flotilla is bolstered with passenger boats carrying up to thirty thousand flag-waving members of the public placed centre stage (or rather mid-river) in this floating celebration of Her Majesty's sixty year reign.

The spectacle is further enhanced with music barges, boats spouting geysers and pyrotechnic barges spitting smoke and daytime fireworks.

And there will be specially constructed elements like a floating belfry, its chiming bells answered by those from riverbank churches.

On 23 September 1896, Victoria became the longest-reigning monarch in English, Scottish, and British history, passing George III. The Queen requested that any special celebrations be delayed until 1897, to coincide with her Diamond Jubilee.

The prime ministers of all the self-governing dominions were invited including the six Australian dominions,. The procession through London included troops from all over the empire.

The parade paused for an open-air service of thanksgiving held outside St. Paul's Cathedral  throughout which Victoria sat in her open carriage. The celebration was marked by great outpourings of affection for The Queen.
