The Nile Iinquiry- NSW Parliament Prorogued Print E-mail
Written by ACM
Friday, 04 March 2011

The Rev Fred Nile MP MP chaired the NSW Legislative Council's Inquiry into the Gentrader (Electricity Power Stations) Transactions in 2010-2011.

The Final Report was tabled on 23 February.

Image

The Inquiry almost did not proceed after the Premier, the Hon Kristina Keneally MP, advised the Governor to prorogue the Parliament on 22 December 2010, although elections were not due until 26 March 2011.

This was widely believed to be an attempt to prevent this Inquiry from going ahead.

The Crown Solicitor then advised the Premier that the inquiry could not proceed.

But following contrary advice from the Clerk of the Parliaments that the Committee could still meet and transact business during a prorogation, the President of the Legislative Council announced that she would allow the Inquiry to proceed.

The Committee was nevertheless stymied in its efforts to uncover the facts surrounding the Gentrader transactions.

Despite multiple efforts to hear evidence from the directors who resigned from Delta and Eraring, these directors declined to appear before the Committee due to concerns about the application of parliamentary privilege during prorogation.

While the Committee sought reassurances from the Premier that she would not bring legal action against the directors for giving evidence to the Inquiry, the Premier would not give such an undertaking.

Queen launches Cunard Liner, Queen Elizabeth Print E-mail
Written by ACM
Tuesday, 22 February 2011

On 11 Ocotber 2010, Her Majesty The Queen launched MS Queen Elizabeth.

As the  BBC repports in this news clip, MS Queen Elizabeth is a cruise ship of the Cunard Line fleet, and the sister ship of MS Queen Victoria.

At 92,000 gross tons, she is slightly larger than MS Queen Victoria. This is largely due to a more vertical stern.

Capable of carrying up to 2,092 passengers, she is the second largest Cunard ship ever built, after RMS Queen Mary 2.

The ship's name was announced by Cunard on 10th October 2007, recalling the period between 1940 and 1948, when Cunard's original Queen Elizabeth was in service at the same time as the Royal Navy battleship Queen Elizabeth.

Royal Liners Rendezvous in Sydney Print E-mail
Written by Professor David Flint AM
Tuesday, 22 February 2011

On Tuesday, 22 February, 2011, the two great Royal ocean liners, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth sat at the Heads waiting to make their spectacular entry into Sydney Harbour.

They processed majestically to their rendezvous at that ancient defender to the city, Fort Denison, with horns blaring and water cannons spraying, as thousands watched from sea and land.

Image

On an unusually cold and windy summer morning, Queen Mary 2 berthed at Garden Island and Queen Elizabeth at the International Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.  The video clip below is from Australia's leading news channel, SkyTV News.

...an earlier rendezvous...

Older Australians can still recall the earlier Royal Rendezvous of the great liners' namesakes during those dark days of the Second World War.

This was a time when our way of life was under threat and Great Britain, Australia and the Commonwealth, united around their beloved King and Queen, were almost alone as the Axis sought world domination.

They have no doubt told their children and their grand children -- as well as those new to this country - about those dark days.

Those great liners were converted in Australia into troop carriers, and brought thousands of Australians New Zealanders and other  allied soldiers to distant battlegrounds.

Too fast for the U-boats, the Nazi fuehrer is said to have offered a ransom for their destruction.

He failed in that as he failed in his evil agenda of world domination.

As we have wondered on recent similar occasions, would there today be the sort of facilities in Australia to do this now, or whether our republican politicians and the carpetbaggers who surround them have abandoned that capability too?

On Tuesday, those there and those watching on television once again  experienced the magic which only the irresistible combination of monarchy and heritage can radiate, as the city and the nation joining in welcoming the great Royal liners .

Creeping Republicanism in the UK Print E-mail
Written by Professor David Flint AM
Sunday, 20 February 2011

Visitors to this site will know that republican movements like to have their cake and eat it.  They agree – when pressed- that our constitutional system only be to give the people agree, that the only word woven this could be tested is by a referendum.

Image
[ UK republican movement meets in 2008 to celebrate the election of Malcolm Turnbull as Leader of HM's Loyal Australian Opposition - see link below ]

...duplicitous...

However they then use all methods available to remove the images of the Crown, under their duplicitous policy of creeping republicanism.

One of the most disgraceful illustrations of this was a New South Wales when The Queen was about to arrive. Republican politicians push through legislation a bill which had been in abeyance to remove the Oath of Allegiance to the Queen in an obvious attempt to insult her Majesty.

Undoubtedly a small group forced this through because of some background deal to support the legislation.  They had previously sworn the Oath - which tells us something about them.

....United Kingdom republican movement....

In the UK there is now a small group of politicians who object to the Oath of Allegiance. These include the Irish Republican Army, whose leader Gerry Adams came to Australia to campaign for the Yes case in  the 1999 referendum which was lost nationally, in each and every state and in 72% of electorates.

Another was the politician who swore  the Oath on the Bible and crossing his fingers behind his back. he did not realise he was being filmed.

There is a concerted effort by Republican movements in the realms to apply a similar agenda.  This is being done in Great Britain by the minuscule United Kingdom republican movement which is now campaigning against the oath of allegiance to the Queen. ( This link is about their celebration when Malcolm Turnbull was elected Leader of HM's Loyal Australian Opposition)

The plain fact is that this republican movement is not prepared to wait until the people agree that the United Kingdom should become the United (Politicians’) Republic, which of course is not on the cards.

Republic Debate As The Queen Arrived Print E-mail
Written by ACM
Thursday, 17 February 2011

Five years ago, just as The Queen of Australia was about to arrive, who else but the republican movement would decide to push their agenda?

But it was a curioulsy empty  agenda.  They refused to  reveal what they want to do with the Constitution and the Flag.

They had had seven years since the referendum to work this out.

Image
[ Home again among her Australian people]

The extraordinary thing is that today, thirteen years since their landslide defeat in the referendum, nothing has changed.

The republican movement  still won't reveal what they want.

...demonstration...

Now the republican movement wouldn't dare march down the street to make their demands.

The reason is that both of their attempts to call for a public demonstration of support were disastrous failures. one was during the referendum, when you would have thought there might have been dome interest.

When ACM did, we filled Macquarie Street Sydney with one of the largest and most peaceful demonstrations seen in the city for years.

The point is that as Malcolm Turnbull admitted just before the referendum, nobody is interested in a politicians' republic.

...republican chant...

But if the republicans were marching down the street, they would have to be be chanting:

" We want a republic....but we haven't the foggiest idea what sort of republic we want."

And " We want a new flag too.. but we haven't the foggiest idea what new flag we want....

(We do have some nice beach towels though.... and we have one flag from an ARM endorsed exhibition we would plead that you never ever reveal.)"

...what has changed?...

On the eve of The Queen's last homecoming, the Channel 9 Today programme convened the following debate  between Australians for Constitutional Monarchy and the Australian Republican Movement.

This was  broadcast on 13 March 2006.

Five years later, rather than their stunts, rather than their abuse, tainted as we have seen by racism, shouldn't the republican movement do the hard yards and tell the people what new republic and what new flag they are planning - or aren't they able to do even that?

As the Channel 7 compere told them when they launched their disastrous Mate for a Head of State campaign, until you explain what you want, nobody will take any notice of you.
