According to the Daily Mail of 27 December 2005, a series of stamps featuring photographs of the Queen throughout her life is set to be the highlight of the British Royal Mail’s 2006 Special Stamp programme.

The eight informal portraits of the monarch will be issued to mark her 80th birthday in April. The royal stamps are one of 11 commemorative sets which will be released throughout the coming year. The stamps will be issued each month to mark important national events, anniversaries as well as the British way of life. Special presentation packs for each of the sets along with personalised first day covers will be available up until the day of issue. The programme will begin with the release of a set of stamps featuring animal characters from classic children’s books, including Roald Dahl’s Enormous Crocodile, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Paddington Bear. In February six extra-wide stamps will celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and in June, the stamps will celebrate the World Cup in football, or as we used to say, soccer.

Isle of Man to issue commemorative stamps
7 January, 2006 The Monarchist Alliance has drawn our attention to a handsome collection of stamps to be issued by the Isle of Man to commemorate the Queen’s Eightieth Birthday. These are to be issued on 16 January, 2005. the issue, named ”Eighty Years of Duty and Service’ has been produced as a set of eight stamps – each depicting an event from one of the monarch’s eight decades, including some photographs by the late Lord Lichfield, cousin once removed to the Queen.
